
The UEFA Euro 2020 Will Be Hosted by 13 Countries
In 2011 the leadership of UEFA decided that the games of the UEFA Euro 2020 will be held in 13 different cities of 13 different countries instead of one single country. The applicants could choose if they wanted to host the 2 semi-finals and the final or 3 games in the group phase and one in the knockout phase; Budapest chose the latter. The number of the applicants was 19.
The Finals Will Be Held in London
According to the results of the voting the semi-finals and the final will be held in London; the quarter-finals in Munich, Baku, Rome and Saint Petersburg; and the rounds of 16 beside others in Budapest, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels and Dublin. The applications of Sofia and Stockholm – beside others – were rejected.
Beside Puskás another New Stadium Will Be Inaugurated
A part of the games held in Budapest will take place in the new Puskás Ferenc Stadium expected to be inaugurated in 2018. The construction of another new stadium will also be realized in the next 4 years.
