As one of
the most important steps of the cooperation between the European Union and
China Hungary signed the contract about establishing the Budapest–Belgrade
super express railway line. Beside China, Serbia and Hungary among others the
representatives of Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania
and Poland also took part on the meeting in Belgrade.
We Can Profit More from the Favorable Location of the Country
Thanks to the establishment of the railway line Hungary can profit more from the favorable location of the country. The railway connecting the Hungarian and the Serbian capital will help both countries’ development, and increase the life quality of the locals.
Hungary Can Widen its Economic Relationships
Building the railway line the economic relationships of the two countries can be widened. Moreover, the speed of railway traffic can also be increased, and be even faster than vehicular traffic, since the train can reach a maximum speed of 160kmph, which means that the current 8-hour turnaround time can be decreased to less than 2.5 hours.
334 Kilometers of Rails Needed to Be Renewed
For the dual-track electric railway line of the Budapest–Belgrade super express to be built, 334 kilometers of rails of the 400-kilometer line has to be renewed and modernized. The investment costs USD 2.89 billion (HUF 725 billion). The railway line is expected to be ready by the end of 2017. Thanks to the future railway line Hungary and Serbia will provide the best transit route for the goods transported from China to Western Europe.
